97th Anniversary of the Battle
Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund
September 16, 2017
On September 16, 2017, the celebrations in Dytiatyn were planned a bit earlier, at 11:00 a.m. However, due to delays in the arrival of guests and difficult access conditions, the mass began several minutes later.
It was the same ceremony, a similar representation of guests, but there was something new and perhaps extraordinary. Namely, the relatives of the late corporal Jakub Wysocki came to the ceremony. Among them, their modest participation brought a new spirit to the ceremony. They brought the participants of the ceremony closer to the fallen soldiers. One could say and feel more confidently that "they are among us".
Moreover, among the many crews recording the event was TVP3 Wrocław, led by editor Grażyna Orłowska-Sonde, well-known not only in Lower Silesia but worldwide among the Kresy community. Thanks to her incredible dedication, each week a half-hour episode of a program about the Kresy region is produced, which can be viewed on regional television, TVP Polonia, and online. The film, titled "Dytiatyn on the Trail to Independence," can be found on the TVP Wrocław website.

Grażyna not only films the events but also organizes dozens of youth groups that travel across the eastern border each July to tidy up Polish graves and cemeteries. This is the only such initiative in the world worthy of being listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The Franciscan Brother Sun Foundation has followed this example, implementing the Volunteering for the Borderlands program for many years. Each year, a dozen or so volunteers tidy up the Polish section of the cemetery and participate in the Youth Meeting at the Center for Peace and Reconciliation in Bołszowce.
